Jacqueline Fernandez was born in Manama and raised by a mixed-ethnic, multiracial family. The father of Jacqueline, Elroy Fernandez is a an Sri Lankan. Her siblings include two brothers and one older sister. The reason for this was the war that raged in Sri Lanka that her parents decided to move to Bahrain. Schooling was finished within Bahrain and she received a Scholarship for the University of Sydney. There she was awarded an Media and Communications degree. Her passion for languages and cultures inspired her to enroll in the Berlitz language school where she improved her French as well as Arabic while learning Spanish. She was also crowned Miss Sri Lanka 2006 for Miss Universe 2006 on March 6, 2006 and participated in Miss Universe 2006. In the wake of her victory in 2006, Miss Sri Lanka win, Padukone stepped into the world of television as host of a TV show on Sri Lankan Business named Lanka Business Report. Padukone was the daughter of the badminton player Prakash Padukone, was born in Copenhagen and was raised in Bangalore. As a teenager she played in badminton championships at national levels. But, she resigned from the sport in order to pursue a career as a fashion designer. Padukone is a native of Mangalore, India. Her mother tongue Konkani is her mother tongue. Her family ancestors are from the village of Padukone within the Kundapura Taluk, in the Udupi district in Karnataka state of India. Prakash Padukone has retired as an internationally renowned badminton athlete, while her mother is also a travel agent.
